Day 68: Sun 24 Aug - Münster

9-20 deg C, rather cool start, then cool’ish all day
Ride G: 31km; total: 2,035km
Ride W: 20km; total: 1,979km
Walk G: 5km; total: 534km
Walk W: 3km; total: 454km

We had some more travel admin to sort this morning so didn’t get away until just after 10am. The later start was kinda planned so that the temp was above 10 deg when we left. Was still cool enough for a singlet and a vest for Wendy.

We took the bikes out as we wanted to cover a larger distance than we would if we walked. The only thing we really wanted to see was the Castle, but there was a horsey event happening there, so we couldn’t get near the place. Never mind, we had a lovely ride on some of the best paths ever. The ride around the lake was particularly pleasant.

The final place we wanted to visit was Münster Harbour, however, as it turned out it was more of a canal. It had a lovely bike path along both sides so good for a visit regardless. We’ve seen very few working canals in Germany, this one had a couple of fairly decent barges going about their business. Wendy then decided to return to the hotel while Greg was determined to get a few more km up.

Back at the hotel, we had lunch then some down time before discussing the next 10 days leading up to our arrival in Amsterdam. If you know anyone in the area who needs an ebike or two, please give us their details; we will be advertising them for sale very soon, with an available date of 5 Sep 25. It would be great if we could bring the bikes home with us, they are fantastic, but we don’t want the hassle. Wendy especially has become quite attached to hers.

The usual afternoon/night routine followed.

We cleaned the bikes and took photos of them for advertising

Looks like something from Wendy’s new hip joint!

Our ride past the horsey event, and the warm-up arena. You realise why they call Münster the bike capital of Germany
