Day 69: Mon 25 Aug - Münster to Dortmund, 76km

8-22 deg C
Moving time: 4h21m; elapsed time: 6h32m
Total ride G: 2,111km
Total ride W: 2,055km
Walk G: 5km; total: 539km
Walk W: 3km; total: 457km

After another full breakfast, we were on the road just after 9am in very brisk conditions, for us anyway! It wasn’t long before we were following the EV3 along the side of the lake that we rode around yesterday. After 25km, the EV3 continued in a westerly direction and we headed south’ish using the equally awesome non-EV route signage.

The ride was not that interesting today, mainly on minor roads, and next to bigger and busier roads. Greg said he quite enjoyed the ride because of the variety of the scenery and conditions but Wendy wasn’t as impressed. The first 25km were good though, and the last 10, getting into Dortmund and the hotel was the worst being on footpaths and beside a very busy road. At least we never had to actually ride on any of the roads without some form of separation from the traffic.

We eventually made it to our hotel - Leonardo Hotel just before 4pm which is quite late for us; we did spend a bit more time over mornos and lunch though.

After settling into the room, we had dinner and the rest of the days routine followed.

Lunch stop at Nordkirchen

Heading into the grounds of Schloss Nordkirchen

Awesome colours

On our way out of Nordkirchen after lunch, we happened upon Schloss Nordkirchen. The main building was undergoing some serious renovations/maintenance, so we didn’t stop for too long.

The view from our room, Wendy did ask for a quiet room when she booked. It is very quiet, atm! At least it is not on the main street.
