Our last scheduled ride day for this tour. It has gone so quickly, we are both finding it hard to believe that it has been 78 days since we left home. The weather was trying to rain on our parade as we awoke to rain on the windows again this morning. However by the time we were ready to leave, 10:30am, it had stopped. In fact we had delayed our departure by having morning tea in our room. Had a few more drops of rain about 1.5 hours into the ride but that was about it.

Called into Wassenaar, as we did in 2014 and nothing much has changed. Still a neat and tidy little town with a great quiet mall. Found an abandoned car park to have lunch and to kill some time. With the relatively short ride, along with a powerful tailwind (gusting up to 50km/h) we weren’t going to take long at all to get there.

We were still early for our 3pm check in and the room wasn’t ready so we took the 30 minutes we had to prep the bikes for sale.

We had stayed at this same hotel last time (2014), but this time they had a bike storage facility. Last time we had to leave our bikes locked in a public bike park, which we never feel comfortable doing.

As we settled into our room the sky opened up and it pelleted with rain. Someone is definitely looking after us!

Dinner was Thai, right next door to the hotel and it was excellent.

We’re staying in Haarlem for a week, just to give us time to sort out the bikes and visit some places around here and Amsterdam.
