The weather was fairly kind to us today, nice and fresh this morning; even had the Gortex jacket on to keep the wind out. Sadly the grey clouds made the photos look a little washed out. No rain at all so we did see the things that we’d planned. The crowds weren’t nearly as bad today because we mainly concentrated on less popular attractions. At various points we could see that the big ticket items were still very busy. It seems that 17 years living in wonderful isolation on the HF has made us slightly intolerant to crowds. We looked for a warm spot for mornos but the best we could do was on the steps of the booking office of the National Theatre. A few minutes after we’d finished and wandered on we found a lovely sheltered spot on an island. Funny how that happens. Wendy had some hotel booking clerical work to do so she returned to the hotel while Greg continued on to see a few other places.
Greg eventually returned to the hotel and we had lunch before having a little rest, this being a tourist is tough work! Greg went out again to visit the Botanical Gardens and Wendy continued with hotel bookings. We had arranged to meet in a shopping mall for dinner, and by the time Greg texted to say he was almost there, Wendy had booked the next two stops and had almost made a decision on where to stay in Dresden.
After dinner, Greg went for recon to check the route out of here for Saturday. There are a whole lot of roadworks and other construction work going on around here, and the rest of Prague, and what would have normally been a relatively straight forward ride out to meet the EV7 is now a nightmare. For some reason, in both Slovakia and Czechia, Google Maps does not show the green cycle paths, even though lots of people cycle in these countries. Thank goodness for the Euro Cycle app. Greg believes he has found a way around all the obstacles. We’ll see how he goes on Saturday.
